This statement summarizes what the “ض” initiative has aimed to accomplish since its foundation and its official registration as a non-profit volunteer organization in Germany. The primary motivation was the deficiency and fragility of Arabic electronic content in various knowledge domains. The initiative sought to address a small part of this deficiency through the most important free encyclopedia, the Arabic Wikipedia, via the “ض” Wikipedia competition since 2015. Later, it expanded its activities to enrich content for children through the “حكايات ض” (Tales of ض) project since 2019, which produced more than 100 high-quality stories for children in Arabic, which they published for the benefit.

In its fifth year, the initiative expanded its activities to include short story writing, through the “حروف حرة” (Free Letters) competition in 2020. After focusing on technical matters and their development in 2021, during which the “حكايات ض 1” app was released on the Google Store, there was a shift from translation to original writing, concentrating on children’s literature, via the larger project, “حكايات ض 2”, which continues until the end of 2023.
